Job Title: 2024 Summer Intern – Associate Financial Planner

Location: Johnston, RI or Westwood, MA

Duration: 10 weeks

Start Date: May 2024

The Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a look at Citizens Bank’s culture and exposure into one of the many business lines through project-based assignments, learning curriculum, networking, volunteer opportunities and formal mentorship. Responsibilities will vary based on the group you’re assigned to and will leverage your unique skills and abilities. At the conclusion of the program, high performers will have gained exposure to key functions of financial planning and investment management.

The Planning & Product Team is a team within the Wealth Management business line of the bank that develops financial plans and related product solutions for our field advisors. The utilization & execution of personal financial planning to help produce great outcomes for our clients is central to our strategy at Citizens Wealth Management.

We are seeking candidates that can help us expand our planning capacity and deliver solution proposals in a scalable manner. The Wealth Associate Financial Planner will help the client facing Citizens Securities, Inc. colleagues produce great outcomes and win new assets under management by assisting them with the execution of personal financial plans, and proposals for clients and prospects. The person in this role will learn how to navigate various financial planning and proposal generation software platforms. They will also learn how to decipher client discovery documentation and assess and diagnose personal financial planning data to identify areas of opportunity for solutions to close gaps. The summer intern will work as part of a Planning & Client Portfolio team. The position will support client portfolio managers translate financial plans into solutions.

Primary responsibilities include

• The creation of financial plans
• The creation of product and services proposals
• The ideal candidate needs to be proficient in the following areas:
  • Time management
  • Partnering & teamwork
• Willingness to test & learn new methods to help our Financial Advisors deliver a high-quality advice experience for their client.
• Openness to testing and perfecting new processes and procedures
• Understanding of basic financial services terms, account types, insurance, and investment concepts

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

• Successfully complete a video interview assessment
• Current students enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduating between Winter 2025 – Spring 2026
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required.
• Strong analytical skills and software skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Teams proficiency is required.
• Candidates must currently be a U.S. Resident to be eligible for this program.
  • Please note that U.S. Immigration sponsorship or work visa is not available for intern / full time Analyst positions and candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S
• Relevant work experience, leadership experience or coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors will be considered, preferred.
• A general understanding of basic wealth management terms, preferred.

• Hours per Week: 40
• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
