      About our opportunity

      This process is being used to fill up to multiple vacancies. A merit pool may be established and used to fill similar vacancies for up to 18 months.

      Our interns have the opportunity to gain relevant industry experience, developing their skills through on-the-job training, while preparing for future employment opportunities. You'll be offered a 10 month temporary non-ongoing contract at the Australian Public Service level 3 classification, commencing in 2025. The flexible employment arrangement allows you to balance your work and academic commitments, ensuring you can focus on both.

      We engage with students in their penultimate/final year and are Australian citizens and prepared to undertake and pass an Australian Government security clearance process.

      Duties and responsibilities

      • Investigate and manage routine cases via resolution of customer issues with assistance from higher classification levels

      • Undertake straightforward quality assurance tasks or activities

      • Obtain cooperation or assistance in the administration of well-defined activities

      • Promote and champion an inclusive and diverse workplace culture and ensure all staff are valued and recognised for their qualities, ideas and perspectives.

      Applicants must be a current student in their penultimate or final year of University or have successfully completed a 2024 Home Affairs Gap Year Program.

      As part of your application you will also be required to prepare and submit a maximum 300-word response document in relation to the advertised role, outlining:

      Eligibility

      To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

      The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
