      Jacobs Technology provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs.

      Assigned shift may be adjusted/changed as necessary to meet our dynamic processing schedules and customer needs. To the greatest extent possible, shift changes will be announced in advance and consider the needs of those affected.
      2nd Shift

      Responsibilities:

      Essential Functions:
      · Perform quality work in the fabrication of equipment and facilities.
      · Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work instructions to carry out assignments.
      · Work directly with engineering personnel and technicians on assigned welding tasks.
      · Weld stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
      · Perform intricate and structural welding on all metals is required, including: Tig weld aluminum and stainless steel and Mig weld mild and stainless steel.
      · Layout, design, fit-up, bending and installation of stainless-steel tubing and piping.
      · Operate forklift and man-lift equipment in the performance of work assignments as required.
      · Work at elevated locations using systems/equipment such as ladders, man-lifts, scaffolding and other work platforms.
      · Operate appropriate shop mechanical equipment, systems, and tools in the performance of work duties.
      · Clean hardware and components to the appropriate level prior to, during, and after fabrication/welding using established procedures and specifications.
      · Maintain equipment as necessary, including preventive maintenance, repairs, or replacement of parts.
      · Execute all work duties in a skilled, safe, and technically acceptable manner.
      · Wear and utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing during performance of work duties, to include safety glasses/goggles, hard hats, gloves, masks, respirators, coveralls, harnesses, etc.
      · Identify and correct potential hazards and/or unsafe acts/conditions at the work site.
      · Notify Supervision of any hazards in the workplace and advise on potential corrective actions.
      · Maintain work area in a neat, orderly, and safe condition.
      · Perform work in other classifications when incidental, but necessary to accomplish work assignment

      2nd Shift

      Qualifications:

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      · HS diploma plus trade school, with at least 3 Years' experience working as a welder.
      · Requires technical training and experience acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience, including during military service.
      · Orbital welding experience is a plus.
      · Must be able to fabricate/weld from a design, drawing or sketch.
      · Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
      · Ability to assist with the work of others.
      · Familiar with concepts, practices, and procedures within assigned work area.
      · Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, lifts, pendant cranes, and occasional precision measuring and testing equipment is required.
      · Must be able to communicate ideas accurately and effectively in writing and verbally.
      · Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, staff, engineering, and managers.
      · Ability to hold the necessary security clearances.
      · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications on a standard PC.
      · Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary medical/physical requirements.
      · Must possess or have ability to obtain a Class D motor vehicle license.

      Essential Functions

      Physical Requirements

      • Duties may include the handling of hazardous waste and transportation of hazardous waste (if qualified).
      • Ability to lift 50 pounds
      • Ability to distinguish between colors (ex: blue and green wires)
      • Ability to comply with safety policies and compliances
      • Ability to use limbs with 90% range
      • Must use safety protective equipment where required
      • Must be able to climb ladders, towers and stairs
      • Will require physical exertion in climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, carrying, or critical work in cramped quarters.
      • Work Environment

      • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
      • Work will mainly performed in an inside environment, but fieldwork can be a combination of inside and outside depending on the project.
      • Working at heights is required and in confined spaces may be required.
      • Work among equipment and stations in support of launches or stand-by.
      • Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
        • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

        Equipment and Machines

        • CNC and manual machines
        • Gas, electric, and heliarc welding, soldering, brazing, cutting, grinding, forming and other necessary equipment.
        • Operate vehicles and other types of equipment required for completion of assigned tasks.
        • Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance.
        • Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.

        Attendance

      • Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week
      • Must be dependable and punctual.
        • Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule

        Other Essential Functions

      • US Citizenship required.
      • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
      • Ability to obtain certifications required to perform tasks assigned.
      • Requires the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and managers.
      • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
      • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
        • Must pass a federal background investigation.
