      About the Role

      Sago Mini is seeking a seasoned 3D Generalist to collaborate with our team on creating a fun 3D cozy game experience for kids! You’ll work closely with our design and development team on pipeline setup and game engine importing. We’ll count on you to enable the project’s visual direction to run optimally cross-platform and to establish our project’s 3D pipeline and best practices.

      This is a hybrid position. You will be required to work in-office at our Downtown, Toronto studio at least one day a week.

      What You’ll Be Doing

      • Establishing the project's 3D pipeline and best practices.
      • Collaborating with developers to ensure the project is optimized and runs at peak performance.
      • Producing and maintaining rigged characters for mobile platforms.
      • Build shaders and work in the game engine to bring the project's creative vision to life.
      • Create guides and documentation to support optimized asset creation, texture baking/packing, UV mapping, rigging, and exporting of assets for internal team use.
      • Supporting the artists with asset modeling on an as-needed basis.

      Qualifications and Skills

      • Strong knowledge of Maya or 3ds Max and complementary software/plugins.
      • 4+ years of experience working in Unity or Unreal.
      • Experience having at least two shipped titles on mobile, pc or console.
      • A solid understanding of character rigging, skinning and basic animation.
      • Demonstrates strong communication, organization, time management and prioritization skills.
      • An ability to clearly convey technical information to both developers and artists.
      • Excellent problem-solving skills.
      • Responsible for establishing the project 3D pipeline and asset creation processes.
      • Knowledge of mobile optimization techniques for asset creation, texturing and material construction, quality control, and scene assembly.
      • Strong understanding of topology, polycount budgets, and reducing draw calls.
      • Experience working with artists in a wide range of styles, with an emphasis on stylized game art.

      Nice to Haves

      • Experience in Python, C#, and/or MEL.
      • Experience using Git/Version Control.
      • Knowledge of environment lighting techniques and practices.
      • Experience designing for children and/or families.
