- Perform watch standing duties to include lookout, security rounds, sanitation, cooking, and line handling.
- Perform deck duties to include work/training/drills/exercises in enclosed spaces, at heights, and
- As a member of the vessel emergency response team respond to emergency situations including fire, flood, man overboard, and abandon ship.
- Assist with the cargo transfer operations to include assistance with hook up/disconnect functions, ballast operations, machinery inspection, and maintenance of deck and cargo systems.
- Assist with the operation, inspection, and maintenance of the vessel's deck machinery, firefighting, lifesaving, and safety equipment.
- USCG Merchant Mariner Credential international and national endorsements:

- Must hold the following International STCW Endorsements:
- STCW Basic Safety Training (STCW VI/1),
- PSC (STCW VI/2),
- Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties (VPDSD) (STCW VI/6)
- Preferred International Endorsements:
- Able Seafarer-Deck (STCW II/5),
- RFPNW (STCW II/4),
- Must hold the following National Endorsements:
- Able Bodied Seaman,
- Lifeboatman,
- Ordinary Seaman,
- Steward's Department (F.H.)
- Preferred National Endorsement: Tankerman Assistant limited to Dangerous Liquid (DL) Cargoes PIC
- Must hold the following International STCW Endorsements:
- Must hold a valid TWIC card and U.S. Passport
- High School diploma
- Maritime Academy graduate preferred
- ABS Nautical Systems NS5 experience preferred
- Able to work in confined spaces, carrying heavy tools, climbing and descending ladders, consistently asked to lift and carry loads greater than 25 pounds
- Must have current USCG STCW Medical Certificate, renewed every 2 years
