      JOB SUMMARY:

      The Access Worker / Truancy Reduction Liaison role provides a unique opportunity to gain experience and exposure to multiple areas of the social work and mental health field!


      Initially, the Access Worker will be assigned to the Kenosha County Child Protective Services (CPS) Unit Access Office to receive phone calls from the community reporting alleged child maltreatment. The Access Office provides a centralized intake and information service for child abuse/neglect and child welfare referrals. CPS is required to document all reports received alleging maltreatment of children.


      Beginning in January, the role will transition into the Truancy Reduction Liaison. The Truancy Reduction Program provides services to youth age 10+ who are at-risk for truancy and Youth Justice court involvement.


      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ACCESS WORKER / TRUANCY REDUCTION LIAISON:

      • Utilize interviewing skills to obtain in-depth information from telephone and in-person contacts concerning child abuse, child neglect, or other child welfare concerns.
      • Document written reports and police reports that allege child abuse or neglect and input the information obtained into the State Automated Child Welfare Information System, identifying any impending or present danger threats.
      • Interview and evaluate clients to complete intake process.
      • Analyze client situations, capabilities and problems to determine services required to meet treatment needs of client.
      • Formulate, implement, evaluate and review individual client treatment plans.
      • Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisis situations.
      • Monitor client attendance by conducting in-school checks on a daily basis.
      • Organize and facilitate structured group, individual and/or family education/treatment and/or recreational activities three to four times a week.
      • On a weekly basis, update parents/guardians on client progress and provide problem solving interactions.
      • Safely transport clients as needed.

      LOCATION: Offices are based in Kenosha, WI. Local travel will be required to meet with clients within the school, home, and/or other community spaces. Must be able to meet in-person with clients in Kenosha County, Wisconsin.


      SCHEDULE: Position hours are typically Monday-Friday between 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and/or weekends.

      SALARY: $22.00 per hour

      Requirements

      • Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
      • Bachelor's degree in sociology, social work, psychology, or closely related is required.
      • Prior experience working with children and families is preferred.
