Job Description

Supervises employees to include approving leave requests, completing performance appraisals, and recommending discipline
Performs assigned accounting activities such as accounts payable, cash management, payroll, school support, general ledger reconciliation, asset management, and grant administration
Provides guidance, direction, and training to District personnel regarding accounting for District resources; trains and reviews the work of assigned staff
Ensures proper management of the District's financial resources; approves or rejects transfers of monies based on requirements for permissible charges to an account
Establishes and monitors budgets in the financial accounting system (i.e. Munis)
Adjusts budget allocations and ensures compliance with all applicable guidelines, regulations, contractual terms and conditions, grant terms, and/or policies and procedures
Monitors account activity, ensures receipts/disbursements are accurately posted in a timely manner, monitors adherence to approved budgets, reconciles assigned accounts, and prepares documentation and reports
Monitors District compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and related governmental regulations and initiates corrective action as needed
Researches and resolves discrepancies
Oversees the maintenance of accurate accounting records and files; ensures documentation submitted by those utilizing accounts is proper for the disbursement of funds
Populates the District's automated financial management systems (e.g. Munis, Kronos) with data via file transfers or uploads; generates ad hoc reports from multiple sources (e.g. bank account deposits or debits, credit card data, etc.) to determine needed reconciliation of accounts in Munis
Prepares financial analyses, cost reports, statements of receipts/expenditures and other management informational documentation to assist in compliance monitoring and informed decision making
Prepares or oversees preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting/financial reports and statements as assigned; responds to a variety of data and information requests
Participates in preparation for the annual audit
Reviews current accounting procedures and establishes new procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of accounting system
Maintains current knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting principles and practices and governmental regulations related to assigned functions.

- Tools/Equipment Use: Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
- Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)
- Environment: Works in office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
- Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.

Payroll DepartmentPossession of a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and three (3) years of professional accounting experience.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
