      What You’ll Do

      Summary/Objective:

      The Accounting Supervisor prepares and reviews financial information and ensures all reconciliations of reports and financial data are performed on a timely basis. They also supervise, coach and monitor direct reports.

      Essential Functions:

      • Review department work on an ongoing basis for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
      • Continuously reevaluate staff workloads/competencies and reallocate/cross-train work to team members as necessary.
      • Oversee and review key general ledger accounts monthly, and work with staff to research and correct variances in a timely manner.
      • Assist in both internal and external audits reviewing materials and providing support for requests.
      • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
      • Supervise, develop, and coach staff through one-on-one meetings, performance management, disciplinary action, and delegation.
      • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of all staffs.
      • Exercise administrative judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on the department.
      • Independently and proactively identify and implement process improvement and efficiencies.
      • Support team initiatives taking an active role in projects and other necessary improvements.
      • Serve as resource for other areas of the credit union to explain accounting transactions and resolve accounting issues and/or discrepancies.
      • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with credit union departments.
      • Performs ad hoc general ledger and accounting projects and analysis for credit union management.
      • Collaborate with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
      • Review accounting policies and procedures to ensure key areas of work are well-documented.
      • Support budget and forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting activities.
      • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).

      Supervisory Responsibility:

      Responsible for supervising, supporting, evaluating and training the accounting staff on a day to day basis.

      What You’ll Need

      Education and Experience Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related work experience.
      • 4 years of accounting experience and 2 years of supervisory experience
      • CPA or other related certification preferred

      Additional Eligibility Requirements:

      • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
      • Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases and excel spreadsheets.
      • Experience working and communicating in a remote environment preferred
      • Strong writing skills
