Oversee print production and page workflow in coordination with the production team, ensuring that deadlines are set and met for copy filing and page design
Work across departments – editorial, events, commercial, video, production and more – to ensure the smooth operation of British GQ
Manage print and digital content budgets, plus operating expenses
Liaise with the brand's commercial and consumer departments
Liaise with HR, Accounts, Systems and Tech, PR and Communications
Negotiate and liaise on freelancer contracts and source freelancers for busy periods
Deal with complaints and queries, internally and externally
Facilitate communication across groups to ensure work is happening in sync
Partner with Deputy Global Editorial Director and HR to enhance staff culture by fostering ongoing communication regarding key initiatives, and serving as a resource for the editorial staff to help resolve challenges swiftly
Support the Global Director of Editorial Operations in rolling out operations initiatives
Work closely with US and European counterparts to ensure production is in sync
Maintain the UK team’s editorial calendar and lineup
Approve UK content invoices
Update British GQ media packs with commercial
Work with commercial to shape editorial content around events and awards
Negotiate UK rights agreements in close consultation with Business Affairs
Liaise with UK sales and marketing teams on local content requests, track sold sponsorships and ensure all sponsored editorial content deliverables are met
Oversee local staff onboarding and ensure best practices are in place
Manage local UK HR issues
Help executive assistant to manage work experience placements
Manage legal queries on editorial content between internal and external lawyers
Encourage collaboration between digital and GQ Recommends teams
Ensure commercial deliverables for sponsors of British GQ events are completed
Build editorial processes to ensure a smooth workflow
Implement IT systems and ways of working in the team on behalf of the company
Lead editorial production meetings and visuals meetings with the team
Have regular one-to-ones with heads of department to discuss challenges
Organise quarterly team meetings and agenda
Work closely with and help manage the executive assistant
Onboard freelancers and ensure the team are well staffed to hit targets
Manage advert placement, dummy approval and cover versions and prices
Manage advertiser credits closely with the style projects editor
Anticipate future challenges and workflow bottlenecks, and provide solutions to solve
Manage the deadlines and workflow for UK fact-checking and top-editing
Manage the deadlines and workflow for multi-market collaboration stories
Work with The Talent Group to book talent photoshoots for the editorial lineup
Explore new ways of working and stay on top of new technologies and systems
Ensure the team receives training when needed, for example, legal and media.
Experience managing a large multi-functional team, at a senior level, within a national magazine, newspaper or publisher across print, digital, video and social
A proven track record of sound judgment, problem-solving and decision-making ability in situations involving many departments, leaders and key stakeholders
Experience managing a slate of multiple projects simultaneously
Confidence to lead and manage large groups of people
Ability to manage in a global environment and collaborate effectively
Experience working closely with finance departments on business deals and negotiation
Ability to foster a positive, kind and collaborative culture
Extraordinary organisational and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated success managing editorial content budgets and workflow
Strong time-management skills and organisational expertise
A skilled project manager who can work with multiple stakeholders to execute print and digital editorial-led initiatives
Experience working in content management systems. Proficiency with AirTable, Trello, GSuite, Slack, InDesign, InCopy/k4 a plus.

The Role
We are seeking an organised self-starter to lead the editorial workflow at British GQ for this maternity cover. You'll be working closely with the Global Director of Editorial Operations and the Deputy Global Editorial Director across multiple platforms, from print and digital to commercial and events.
The perfect candidate is a great communicator and an efficiency expert, able to build consensus and trust while delivering pastoral care to the team and consistently getting things done. You’ll also manage the brand’s deadlines, production cycle, contracts and rights, budget and processes while overseeing the completion of all editorial operations.
