      Department Overview:

      The People’s Farm for Sustainable Agriculture strives to educate the UW community about the relationship between people, land, and food. Through our garden workshops, educational events, and outreach programming, we aim to bring critical awareness about food systems, land use, and sustainability issues at UW.

      Anticipated Start Date:

      February 2025

      One-year minimum commitment including the summer

      Qualifications:

      Must be enrolled as a student at UW-Madison.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      Discuss with outgoing board member(s).
      Try to be as accessible as possible.
      No prior experience is necessary.

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      10 hours/week during the school year, 10 hours/week during the summer

      Manage board meetings
      Create Agenda
      Take meeting minutes (or delegate responsibility as needed)
      “Keep meeting on track”
      Serve as liaison to the Associated Students of Madison
      Serve as liaison to Student Activities Center General Board
      Reserve conference rooms & other rooms as needed
      Co-administer payroll approval and management with Finance Director
      Organize Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service conference and SARE scholarships
      Communicating with Scholarship recipients
      Responsible for all participants’ level of understanding of logistics
      Facilitate (or delegate) student farmer breakout session
      Manage Long-term board projects & applications

      Budget Defense & Alteration with Finance
      Org Fair
      Oversee (or delegate oversight for) Hiring & Transition Process
      Deliver hiring paperwork in a timely fashion
      Brief directors on ASM, reimbursement, and logistical protocols
      Facilitate transition of peers (make sure outgoing member is meeting expectations)

      Physical Demands:

      Farm work when necessary
