      Introduction

      The Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

      POSITION DUTIES

      The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative and programmatic support to the Workforce and Technology Center (WTC) Workforce Services operations and administrative staff including the Program Manager, Staff Specialists, Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor, Administrator, and Teacher Supervisor. This role supports the provision of the administrative operations of the department and its six units, as part of the Administrative team. Job Duties Include: Provides administrative support, program and unit support, procurement/fiscal duties, and office management. Works collaboratively with all DORS/WTC staff and consumers, agency vendors, community partners, and other stakeholders. Provides specialized assistance in supporting WTC core and customized partnership training programs, Business Advisory Boards, WTC graduations, center counseling/case management, and other program needs throughout the department. Adheres to federal and state laws and regulations, as well as Division and Center policies and procedures.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience:Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties. Notes: 1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience. 3.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

      DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      Experience using Google docs and sheets and shared drives Work experience providing services/support to individuals with disabilities

      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

      Candidates must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.
