- Under general direction, establishes, updates and continually monitors a complex computer database system controlling investigative cases from creation through conclusion of prosecution action or discontinuation, including recording agent case hours, key action dates, prosecution case referrals, case closures and the generation of numerous management reports routinely for monthly reporting statistics and special requests. Additionally, maintains paper files as required or requested for all case related documents.
- Serves as staff assistant to the Criminal Investigation Program Administrator.
- Drafts a variety of technical correspondence relating to Bureau wide processes for the Program Administrator’s signature.
- Controls, issues, and ensures all equipment assigned to the Bureau’s inventory is properly assigned and maintained.
- Coordinates Bureau’s record retention and retrieval program.
- Assists Special Agent Supervisors by extracting information and data to be utilized in compiling and preparing monthly and special activity, management, administrative time analysis, case status, statistical and budgetary reports for submission to the Program Administrator.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
- One (1) year of professional experience utilizing computer software such as Microsoft office suites in the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and presentations in an accessible format for various audiences.
- One (1) year of professional experience efficiently tracking status and/or completion of assignments across a large agency meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail while multi-tasking multiple projects.
- One (1) year of professional experience developing and maintaining professional working relationships with staff, customers, vendors and public and encouraging respect for those of other cultures and backgrounds.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working for a public or private organization, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
- Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.

The Illinois Department of Revenue is seeking to hire an Administrative Assistant I for the Des Plaines Field Office in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI). BCI is a highly specialized law enforcement group that conducts criminal investigations into violations of the Illinois Tax Acts and associated financial crimes. The Administrative Assistant position serves a support function for BCI investigations and operations. Related duties include maintenance of investigative case files and report tracking, drafting related correspondence, obtaining data and generating reports.
