- Dealing with patients, carers, relatives and other service providers such as emergency workers over the telephone and face to face.
- Assisting patients with booking and cancelling of appointments
- Creating, typing and sending referrals to hospitals and consultants.
- Checking outstanding and rejected referrals by assisting with secretarial support for the Doctors, Practice Manager and Practice Nurses.
- Taking and tying up minutes of meetings.
- Coding from electronic documents into patients records
- Entering referrals onto the computer.
- Contacting consultants and patients via the telephone.
- Ensuring that accurate messages are recorded and delivered to the correct person.
- To carry out other general clerical duties.
- Typing and processing of Medical Reports
- Perform any other appropriate duties as may be delegated from time to time by the Management or GP partners.

- Experience of administrative duties in a previous post
- Previous experience of working in general practice

Job summary
Due to a retirement we are very excited to be able to offer this new post at Whittington Moor Surgery. This is a great opportunity for someone who would thrive in a busy fast paced environment working alongside our administrative, secretarial and clinical teams.
This post is being advertised working 25 hours per week covering either 3 or 4 days across the week with some flexibility required when necessary to cover for colleagues.
Being part of our large friendly practice team you will play an integral part at Whittington Moor Surgery, and as this is a new post here you will have the ability to help shape how this role will mature within the practice.

Main duties of the job
The main duties for this post:
Dealing with patients both face to face and over the telephone
Checking and processing incoming electronic documents
Arranging routine appointments as requested by the clinical team
Checking the practice referral log and processing urgent and routine referrals to hospitals and other services
Contacting various outside agencies by email and telephone as requested by he practice clinical team.
Review & process incoming digital triage forms from patients
Coding in patients records from electronic documents
Taking minutes and typing these up as and when requested
Keeping the clinical team up to date with Advice and Guidance responses from consultants in other trusts
Management of requests for any GP letters or reports
Liaising with all departments in the practice
