Position Overview:

Completes registration of patients into the computer system while coordinating their placement with the nursing units. Schedules staff and maintains timesheet records in Manager's absence.

Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Processes pre-admission and admissions.

Reviews hospital admissions to ensure accurate financial and demographic data and documentation have been obtained and properly entered into the hospital records.

When applicable, verifies insurance benefits assigned to the hospital to determine if insurance coverage meets the standards of admission as stated in hospital policy.

Explains the financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductibles as required.

Immediately notifies Manager/Financial Counselor concerning admissions that do not meet the hospital financial criteria policy.

Schedules staff and maintains timesheet records in Manager’s absence.

Processes work within standards set by Department Manager

Assists the supervisor with census control and census corrections. Responsible for the maintenance of the daily computer floor census reports.

Schedules and coordinates appointments for blood transfusions and chemotherapy.

Compiles and distributes information regarding patients’ personal insurance and financial status. Updates registration information as more becomes available. Provides appropriate forms to billing and other departments.

Maintains department records, reports and files as required. Maintains and cares for department equipment and supplies.

Makes bed assignments based on availability, patient preference, condition and diagnosis.


EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

Three (3) yrs experience as a Registration Representative in a hospital environment.

Pay Range is $31.74 to $39.53 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
