Apply your facilities expertise and contribute to the efficiency and optimization of the Tree Seed Centre in this critically important role

The Ministry of Forests delivers holistic resource management services for British Columbians and manages specified Crown land and resources in a manner that embraces the economic, environmental and social goals of government. These results are all essential to improving the global competitiveness of BC industry and our ability to attract private investment and to stimulate economic growth and job creation across the province.

The Forest Improvement and Research Management Branch’s (FIRM) mission is to enhance the value, resilience and conservation of BC’s forest genetic resources. The FIRM conducts research to identify the potential growth, health and adaptability of BC’s tree species. This scientific information guides the establishment of ministry and private seed orchards and the Chief Forester’s Standards for seed use. The Branch manages six seed orchards, two research stations and the Provincial Tree Seed Centre, where all seed used for Crown land reforestation is registered, tested, stored and distributed.

As the Facilities Administration Officer, you provide facility and site management services to support the continuing secure, efficient and cost-effective operation of the Tree Seed Centre (TSC). The TSC is a one-of-a-kind Provincial facility, designated as Mission Critical within the Ministry of Forests’ Business Continuity Plan. The TSC serves forest licensees, woodlot licensees, District and BC Timber Sales, seed orchards, forest nurseries, tree seed dealers, First Nations, researchers, educators and the public. The facility, which is owned and operated by the Ministry, is located on 4.5 hectares of land, measures 3,623 square metres and is comprised of offices, cone conditioning areas, cone and seed processing and distribution areas, seed laboratory, coolers and long-term storage vaults.

If you are results-focused, have a passion for facilities management, and thrive in a collaborative team environment, we look forward to receiving your application.
