- Engage in written and oral advocacy at the EU, CoE and related institutions and bodies.
- Create high-level alliances with government representatives and other allies.
- Work collectively with allies and build coalitions to promote a vision of authentic human rights at the EU and CoE.
- Draft interventions and submissions for the EU and CoE and related institutions.
- Write scholarly articles, present at conferences, and conduct training events.
- Engage in cross-team collaboration to coordinate advocacy efforts; support other teams as needed.
- Advise and work with allied lawyers on legal issues within areas of competence.
- Build relationships and alliances with legal, political, and public policy professionals, prominent public intellectuals, members of the media, strategic academics, and other prominent individuals and organizations.
- You will be asked to perform related duties or special projects as assigned by your Team Leader.
- Written and oral proficiency in English.
- Research and draft sophisticated memos, interventions, and submissions to the EU, CoE and related institutions.
- Prepare and deliver oral presentations with excellence.
- Engage in debates and be able to counter arguments “on your feet”.
- Develop and implement strategy and tactics for succeeding on our issues at the EU, CoE and related institutions.
- High relational and interpersonal skills and social intelligence.
- Competence in computer equipment and technological software.
- Work, self-motivate, and collaborate within a team.
- Prioritize and achieve strict deadlines under pressure.
- Professionally handle confidential information.
- Travel internationally, including occasional travel on short notice.
- Background in law or international relations. J.D. degree or equivalent strongly desirable.
- Relevant experience or work in the field of human rights and diplomacy desirable

Advocacy Officer, Europe
ADF International is looking for a highly organized Advocacy Officer, Europe to join us in our Brussels office. As an Advocacy Officer you are a vital part of the ADF International team in Brussels. In this role, you will report to the Senior Counsel, Europe, and are capable of advancing the mission of ADF International through relevant European Union (EU) and Council of Europe (CoE) decision-making processes. The Advocacy Officer must have demonstrated expertise in the field of international human rights law or international relations, understand European institutions and have high academic credentials. Multiple languages are a plus.
This is a temporary position until January 31, 2026 – starting as soon as possible (preferably beginning of May).
