What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct site visits in response to environmental complaints and make field determinations of protected natural resources
- Perform compliance inspections of licensed activities and evaluate permit by rule applications
- Pursue formal enforcement actions, including writing letters of warning and notices of violation
- Participate in Board of Environmental Protection presentations, public meetings, and hearings
- Implement the Natural Resources Protection Act and other relevant environmental laws in the Central Maine region

What is Required (Qualifications):
- A combination of six (6) years of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering, including two (2) years of environmental experience
- At least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited institution
- Fieldwork experience in identifying natural resources or administering a regulatory program
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory programs at the federal, state, or local level
- Experience in customer service within a fast-paced work environment

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with concepts and techniques involved in natural resources protection and management
- Skills in GIS/database management or other relevant computer skills
- Familiarity with public service and student loan forgiveness programs
