      At a glance

      This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the London or Bracknell Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises.

      The salary range for this role is set at £52,600.00 - £76,400.00

      About the role

      Sustainability is deeply rooted in our DNA here at the John Lewis Partnership and it is central to our pursuit of a happier world. We are excited to be recruiting for an Agriculture Manager within our Agriculture and Responsible Sourcing team, part of the Ethics & Sustainability department.

      The successful candidate will play a key part in the acceleration and integration of our sustainability plans in JLP, in particular the delivery of our Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Strategy in Waitrose.

      Your work will focus on the meat, poultry, dairy and eggs that we sell, helping to deliver positive impacts for the animals in our supply chain, our farmers that supply us and the farmed environment we source from, alongside our commercial results.

      Day to day you will:

      Work with your fellow Partners and our suppliers to deliver the objectives of the Agriculture plan, including but not limited to; the promotion and enhancement of our animal welfare standards and sustainable agriculture practices in our supply chains, championing our farmers and growers together with creating long term resilience within our supply base.

      ●Continue to build on and own the collaborative relationships with our supply partners and producer groups, particularly livestock, to enable the delivery of our commercial, sustainability and technical objectives.

      ●Work with the wider Ethics and Sustainability team to enable the practical implementation of their objectives within our supply base

      ●Unlock commercial value through tender and value chain analysis processes.

      ●Keep abreast of the latest developments within the industry and communicate as appropriate across the business

      ●Seek out and develop communicable messages, together with our communications team, to help demonstrate to our customers how we are delivering our values across our supply chains

      ●Represent the partnership in external forums to drive the change we want to see in the food and farming system

      Essential Skills

      Qualification or relevant experience in specialism (e.g. agriculture or sustainable supply chains).

      Proven understanding of how agriculture supply chains operate

      Professional experience in work relating to livestock supply chains

      Ability to interpret and communicate agriculture data

      Strong interest in and passion for sustainability, animal welfare and regenerative agriculture

      Experience in leading the delivery of successful strategic projects

      IT and data management skills

      Written and verbal communicator

      Excellent organisational skills
