      The AI organization at Intel is dedicated to research and development for the future of AI - an unprecedented scale for enabling machine intelligence on desktop, mobile computers and large clusters alike. We are seeking a motivated and passionate AI Frameworks Engineer Intern to extend the capabilities of the Open Federated Learning (OpenFL) framework. As part of the OpenFL team, you'll have the opportunity to design and implement new aggregation algorithms, contribute to novel research and patents at the intersection of AI / Security, build new platform features, and represent the OpenFL team in the open source community through technical presentations and in debugging customer issues.

      Responsibilities:

      • Conceiving, researching, and prototyping federated learning algorithms and rapidly prototyping software for the Open Federated Learning (OpenFL) framework.

      • Rapid prototyping of new features and working with the software engineering team to integrate into the platform.

      • Interacting with the open source community through Github and Slack

      • Improving framework documentation based on user feedback.

      Qualifications:

      Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research. Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

      Minimum Qualifications:
      Candidates must be pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Applied
      Mathematics or a related field. Should be in excellent academic standing.

      6+ months experience in:

      • Python

      • Mathematical foundations for Deep Learning and Neural Network, statistics, data science basics

      • Familiarity with PyTorch, Tensorflow, or another deep learning framework


      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Prior research experience in federated learning, deep learning, machine learning, graph analytics, numerical analysis

      • Have a good understanding of current models and training algorithms

      • Developing new models or algorithms for federated/distributed learning applications

      • Familiarity with distributed computing/large computing clusters

      • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes or other container technologies

      • Familiarity with Large Language Models and Foundation Models

      • Strong communication and collaboration skills

      • Prior experience as a contributor to open source projects and providing technical help to users

      • Privacy Preserving ML

      • Adversarial ML

      Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in

      US, Colorado, New York, Washington, California:$63,000.00-$166,000.00

      S al ary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.

      Work Model for this Role

      This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
