Support the implementation of trading process improvements such as trading practices, portfolio analysis and performance reporting
Execute trades across a variety of products and asset classes
Assist with specific projects that will improve trade execution
Establish connections with trading counterparties
Seek to understand and implement “best execution” practices
Develop decision-making by following market dynamics, trading conditions and price movements for better execution
Participate in weekly trading meetings
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Bachelor’s degree preferably in mathematics, statistics, economics, or finance
1 to 3 years of industry experience in capital markets
Programming skills in VBA, Python, SQL would be an asset
Working towards the completion of the CFA designation is desirable
Knowledge of order management systems (OMS) and execution management systems (EMS)
Team player with initiative, drive and ability to work within a time sensitive environment
Good learning agility with attention to details
Demonstrate ability to foster relationships internally and externally
The role involves making business decisions in real time. Candidates must be able to prioritize multiple tasks while balancing accuracy and practical decision making under fast changing market conditions.
The role covers local and international clients, conference calls across time zones may be occasionally needed.
To seek the best execution for trades, some solutions may not be readily available in the market and would need some initiative to find the appropriate resolution.
The trading desk covers all geographies, trading Asian markets in the evening is an occasional requirement of the role to support backup coverage.

Analyst, Trading
OMERS Capital Markets manages the public markets investment portfolio consisting of fixed income (including government bonds, Inflation-Linked Bonds, and public and private credit) and equities, including global public equities, intellectual property, and structured investments. The team’s approach is focused on generating current income from high-quality assets and generating a consistent capital return with a lower volatility than the broad markets. Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Trading, the Analyst Trader role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to join a 2-year rotational program within the centralized trading team, at one of Canada’s largest pension plans. Upon completion, the program will culminate in a trader position on the desk where a need has been identified. The candidate will be working closely with senior traders in helping improve our execution capabilities. Execution will occur via electronic platforms and/or voice execution for a multitude of portfolios by domestic and international portfolio managers. The ideal candidate will be passionate, independent, and result-oriented in learning and growing into a more senior role.
The trading desk is responsible for actively providing valuable market insight to assist in portfolio positioning and execution costs management. The candidate will be expected to work in the office.
