      Analyst WW Distribution Analytics

      Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a bright and motivated individual to fill the position of Analyst within Sony Pictures Releasing’s Worldwide Distribution Analytics department. This department is responsible for the providing business intelligence and analytic support to the global theatrical sales and distribution team.

      The position is an excellent early career opportunity to learn the distribution business from the ground up and to contribute to the decision-making process in the release of films by a major motion picture studio.

      Responsibilities

      • collaborating with domestic analytics team to prepare weekend box office predictions and estimates;
      • liaising with regional supervisors and international territory offices to facilitate the release of films in overseas markets
      • maintaining data such as box office performance, release dates, and title metadata in Sony’s bespoke distribution planning system;
      • providing recurring and ad hoc analysis directly to the President of SPR and the President of SPRI;
      • supporting the team to report weekend box office performance;
      • working with domestic distribution on sales planning and sales administration;
      • analyzing datasets from the division’s various database systems to develop market insights;
      • preparing ad hoc analysis on theatrical trends;
      • contributing to various research projects; and crafting presentations for management.

      Qualifications

      • BA or BS required.
      • Prior entertainment work experience at an entertainment company in an analytic capacity a plus.
      • Ability to interface with senior executives while maintaining professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
      • Interest in and passion for movies.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
      • Creativity and open-mindedness.
      • Excellent quantitative skills, including proficiency with Excel.
      • Facility with Powerpoint a plus.
      • Prior experience with database systems a plus.
      • Detail oriented with an ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in an accurate and timely manner.
      • International exposure and foreign language proficiency a plus.

      The anticipated base salary for this position is $54,200 to $71,100. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
