      • Analyze, plan, and forecast the block (travel) times for all our flights. Evaluate different block strategies to find the best balance between network reliability and operational costs.
      • Lead the evaluation of future network schedule designs. Coordinate with other teams such as network planning, crew planning and operations to ensure smooth implementation.
      • Consider the effects of new schedules, hub changes, construction, and other initiatives on our operations.
      • You are part of the Operations Schedule and Strategic Planning team, within the Operations Planning and Performance Division. Our team collaborates with other departments to create American’s global schedule.

      What you'll do

      • Collaborate with operational planning departments (Airport Ops Business teams, TechOps, IOC, Crew), airport operational leadership, and Network Planning in the development of future schedules
      • Ensure operational concerns are validated, quantified, and reviewed collaboratively with Network Planning
      • Plan and maintain the accuracy and integrity of operational performance parameters through block times
      • Identify potential ways to improve sequencing at airports focused on resource utilization across the network
      • Work collaborative cross-functionally to improve operational performance by building reliable schedules together with Network and Operations Planning
      • Mine, model, analyze, and evaluate operational data to identify root cause factors impacting network reliability
      • Present findings and deliver recommendations to the operating groups and senior management
      • Analyze competitors’ schedules and operational performance
      • Seek out action plans and recommend corrective action to improve operational performance
      • Provide periodic reports to the operating departments focusing on trends and anomalies
      • Identify and resolve high priority operational performance issues related to ATC, chronically late flights, station performance, crew parameters, maintenance reliability and scheduling parameters pertaining to block
      • Create and maintain dashboards and reporting of key metrics on future schedules for various operational stakeholders
      • Plan and maintain hub schedule standards in collaboration with airports and Network Planning, while also monitoring performance trends for any necessary changes to scheduling standards
      • Identify schedule optimization opportunities to resolve high priority operations performance issues
      • Partner with functional owners (departments, airport leaders) to provide analytical support in resolving operational problems or respond to data/analysis requests on an ad hoc basis

      All you'll need for success

      Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

      • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field
      • 1 year airline experience or other relevant experience
      • Experience in using data analysis to answer business questions and to assess the added value of recommendations
      • Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Excel)
      • Experience with data retrieval languages (e.g. SQL, SparkSQL, MySQL, NoSQL)
      • Experience with reporting and data visualization tools and techniques (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI)

      Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

      • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field
      • Experience with 1 or more programming languages (e.g. R and Python)
      • Experience with Cloud Computing and/or Distributed Computing (e.g. Databricks, Spark, AWS)

      • High energy, results driven leader who possesses strong oral and written communication skills, along with a collaborative mindset and the ability to be persuasive and influence others
      • Skilled in data analysis/modeling in Excel/R/Python to answer business questions and assess operational impacts
      • Ability to effectively understand and analyze detailed information
      • Strong business acumen; technical learning/innovation management
      • Ability to perform both independently and as a team member, handle multiple assignments, complete projects on time, and respond to changing priorities
      • Ability to complete assigned projects accurately and within defined deadlines
      • Adaptable, comfortable with unstructured work and occasional shifting priorities
