Anticipated Permanent 12-month Assistant Principal position available at the High School for the 2024-2025 School Year. Competitive salary will commensurate with experience. Strong communication, supervision, interpersonal, and instructional leadership skills required. Valid PA K-12 Principal Certificate required. TITLE: High School Assistant Principal CATEGORY: Administration REPORTS TO: High School Principal JOB SUMMARY: Assists the high school principal with planning, organizing, coordinating and participating in programs and activities related to the operation of an assigned high school, including instruction, student discipline and other programs. QUALIFICATIONS: Possesses a Master’s degree in education or related field Possesses five years of classroom teaching experience, secondary preferred Possesses an active PA Secondary Principal Certification Assures compliance with Employment Eligibility, Background Checks, Pre-Employment Drug Testing, and Physical Examination/TB Test Demonstrates proficiency in the English language, with strong oral and written communication skills Demonstrates knowledge of technology, including the use of software and computerized office equipment Demonstrates ability to analyze situations accurately and adapt an effective course of action Demonstrates ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures Possesses ability to maintain high level of confidentiality Possesses valid driver’s license for travel related to job responsibilities KNOWLEDGE OF:School law, applicable sections of the PA School Code, other applicable laws Federal, State and local requirements, board and organizational policies, procedures, and regulations K-12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment; school organization and management Standardized assessments and data analysis Current research concerning K-12 education Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training Labor relations law, employee contracts and state requirements PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing the school; assists the Principal with student discipline, curriculum programming and development, and school operations as assigned Assures the health, safety and welfare of students Supervises and evaluates the performance of designated personnel; assigns duties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives; assists with recruiting, interviewing and selecting new faculty and staff Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with policies and State laws Receives referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers and community agencies; responds to and resolves parent, student and staff complaints Administers student discipline according to established procedures and guidelines; serves on discipline or expulsion panels as assigned Supervises students on campus before and after school; monitors students during lunch, passing periods and other activities as assigned Establishes, coordinates, and maintains communication with community and parent groups; attends and conducts a variety of meetings and events; develops correspondence to promote school activities and achievements via website, Twitter, and other approved social media Participates in the preparation of the master schedule for the school; assures schedules meets State requirements; distributes scheduling calendars to staff, students and parents Coordinates student placements in outside educational programs Provides direction to a variety of faculty, staff and student programs and services; participates in informal and formal classroom visitations and observations; provides recommendations and suggestions as appropriate Supervises or schedules the supervision of students in the building for school-sponsored events before and after school, monitors students during lunch, and other activities; disciplines students according to established guidelines Oversees athletics, student activities and other programs as assigned Provides direction to the school's guidance and counseling services, student activities, student government, school attendance issues and building maintenance; assures programs and services meet established objectives Supervises and organizes a wide variety of student activities, extra-curricular activities and athletic events; schedules extra-curricular programs; attends a variety of school events including athletic events, dances, meetings and others Assists with monitoring the school budget; orders supplies as needed Prepares and maintains a variety of County, State and other federally-mandated records and reports regarding student attendance, discipline, cumulative records and academic achievement Participates in graduation-related activities including photos, set-up of equipment and planning of various graduation-related events as assigned Performs related duties as assigned SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Oversees, attends and supervises extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, events and programs Prepares and delivers oral presentations Participates in meetings, conferences and in-service activities, as necessary Prepares and maintains comprehensive records and reports PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Possesses ability to access, input and generate output of data from a computer and other office equipment Directs and oversees building evacuations for fire drills and other emergencies Conducts classroom walkthroughs and observations Walks and patrols bus loop and surrounding areas during arrival and dismissal times MEASURED IN TERMS OF FREQUENCY - select A, B, C or D for the Lifting & Body Movements A B C D NOT AT ALL OCCASIONALLY FREQUENTLY CONSTANTLY 0% 1 - 33% 34 - 66% 67 - 100% TRANSPORT: Up to 10 lbs: C 11 to 20 lbs: B Beyond 20 lbs: B MOBILITY: Possesses ability to move about the office to access office equipment and files: C Possesses ability to position self to work with students, staff and the public: D Possesses ability to transport materials and supplies to appropriate locations throughout the building: C TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 Days per year; Compensation and benefits per the ACT 93 Agreement FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT Northampton Area School District is an equal opportunity employment, educational and service organizationAbout the company
