- Under the direction of the Assistant Childcare Manager, assist in the day to day running of the Nursery in accordance with all Trust and Nursery policies and procedures.
- Inform your Senior Practitioner of any information relevant to your children so she can assess strategies you may need to use for their personal development.
- To be aware of and act appropriately on Trust Child Protection Polices and Procedures.
- Maintain the high standards of hygiene within the Nursery, promoting the childrens own awareness by being a positive role model for them to emulate. Follow appropriate Food Hygiene Guidelines when serving and preparing food.
- Promote within the nursery, Equal Opportunities, displaying sensitivity to the childrens cultural and socio economical backgrounds, gender and disability or language capabilities.
- Be aware of the confidential aspects of your work, treating all confidential information relating to the children, parents, staff and professional contacts in a manner which will protect the individuals privacy.
- Ensuring all available resources are utilised within the Nursery.
- To contribute any additional skills and competencies that is appropriate, with the role and agreed with the Assistant Childcare Manager.

Job summary
First Steps Day Nursery at St. Peter's (1 post) and Ashford Hospital (1 post) are looking for a kind, thoughtful, enthusiastic and loyal Apprentice Early Years Practitioner to provide and enhance good quality care to an established and popular workplace day nursery, located within the grounds of Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals.
Applicants are also welcomed to apply for the post as an Apprentice Early Years Practitioner through our Apprenticeship scheme working alongside the nursery team learning day to day practice within the nursery. We work closely alongside Brooklands College who oversee the Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, enabling applicants to gain the appropriate in Early Years experience.

Main duties of the job
The nurseries operate 50 weeks of the year and provide excellent day care for 68 children per day aged between 3 months and 5 years for each nursery.
The postholder will:
Sustain and develop good practice within the Nursery, by sharing a responsibility in offering a stimulating environment for the children in your care, by ensuring a contribution of ideas, covering The New Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) ensuring that a child can develop to the appropriate age and stage of development.
