- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year electrical, mechanical, technical, or general/utility construction experience.
- A Class D Water License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will meet the experience requirement.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Must obtain Class D Water License TCEQ within the first two (2) years of employment.
- Availability to work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Subject to twenty-four (24) hour emergency call-out.
- Must have own transportation.
The Apprentice Water Plant Operator performs as an apprentice operator and assists at a water purification plant, wastewater treatment plant, or pumping stations to provide an adequate supply and quality of water to citizens and customer cities.1 Assists, supports, and participates with operators as an apprentice in the operation of a water purification plant, wastewater treatment plant or a system of pumping stations to ensure continuous water service, which meets established guidelines.2 Makes adjustments to water treatment machinery, chemical levels, computerized pumping stations, and other related equipment to ensure a constant water supply, quality of water, and effectively treated effluent; works under direct supervision and with limited independence based on skill.
3 Reads gauges and instruments, gathers samples, and conducts tests to ensure proper functioning of equipment and emergency response in case of failure.
4 Inspects equipment, checks for safety hazards, unusual conditions and possible malfunctions to ensure continuous operation of equipment and reduce maintenance repairs.
5 Maintains routine paperwork to ensure proper documentation of flows, volumes, performance graphs, and operational adjustments as required by regulatory agencies.
6 Performs assigned clean up duties and minor preventive maintenance to maintain the facilities in a safe and effective condition.
7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
EDUCATION:
For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.
Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and will receive full credit for the amount of time employed. A minimum of 15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.About the company
