Job summary
The trainee will follow a three-year training programme encompassing theory and practical experience working towards a Degree in Healthcare Science (specialising in Radiation Physics). The Trainee will undertake the practical training whilst working with a team of scientists providing radiation protection and diagnostic X-ray physics services to clinical departments in the Royal United Hospital NHS Trust and other customers. The academic training will be provided by the University of the West of England via block release.

We're pleased to announce this exciting opportunity to join our friendly, dedicated Imaging Physics team (part of the Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering) as an apprentice Clinical Technologist.
We provide radiation physics (radiation protection and scientific support) to X-ray departments and other users of radiation at the RUH and for other external customers. The successful applicant will be working with X-ray equipment, and involved in all aspects of the service throughout their apprenticeship with ample opportunity for research and development project work. The role is not patient-facing.
Applicants should be numerate, computer literate and have two science A-levels (or equivalent). As part of the apprenticeship, you will undertake a professionally accredited BSc (Hons) Degree qualification in Healthcare Science (Medical Physics Technology) and upon successful completion of the apprenticeship be eligible for entry on the professional register for clinical technologists (RCT). This post will be commencing September 2024.
