- Maintains law and order and protects life and property.
- Provide constant security presence in the public areas and security office for the GICC and Gateway Center Arena.
- Assist with investigating all losses of property assets and refer to proper management for disposition.
- Deploys security staff to effectively monitor and protect property assets.
- Assist with Emergency Management Plans, MOUs, and other emergency plans.
- Work closely with management staff in the development and implementation of emergency procedures.
- Review and recommend updates to security policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
- Comply with all Loss Prevention safety and security management guidelines and procedures.
- Assist with managing Human Resource responsibilities for assigned security contract vendors.
- Conduct periodic patrols of the entire property and parking areas.
- Identifies and makes recommendations for minimizing physical hazards and unsafe work practices.
- Creates and updates annual facility risk assessments; implements action plans to monitor and control risk.
- Maintains required reports and documentation regarding patrols of property and parking areas.
- Maintain the employee and visitor phone ID & credential program.
- Provides means for obtaining necessary medical attention on a timely basis.
- Attends all pre- and post-convention meetings as well as established weekly meetings.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Work closely with the Director of Security & GICC management on developing, implementing, and managing the fiscal year budget for the department.
- Develops and maintains a working relationship with local and state-wide law enforcement authorities, GEMA, and FEMA.
- Provides information and updates to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person promptly.
- Identifies the educational needs of others as it relates to security and emergency management, and teaching or instructing others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of law enforcement concepts and terminology, including criminal investigation, law enforcement, and crime prevention.

- Knowledge of laws and court decisions about law enforcement, including search and seizure, suspects and prisoner’s rights, and custody and protection of evidence.
- Knowledge of the use and effects of law enforcement weapons; methods of self-defense and physical restraint.
- Knowledge of College Park Police Department, policies and procedures; geographic layout of City; vocabulary of technical/specialized fields of law enforcement such as identification, detention, and pathology.
- Skill in learning, interpreting, applying, and explaining complex laws and regulations; reading and interpreting documents such as maps, diagrams, and textbooks.
- Skill in performing accurate mathematical calculations; comprehending and retaining factual information and applying what is learned.

- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to one hundred (100) pounds, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day, climbing poles, bending, crouching, or stooping, and using tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color.

- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the field of law enforcement including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Must be a Certified Peace Officer under regulations of Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.); completion of P.O.S.T. Management Training is required.
- Successful completion of the pre-employment process which includes a written exam, oral interview, background check, criminal records and traffic history check, medical and drug screening, polygraph evaluation, and/or voice stress, and successful completion of Police Academy.
- Must have a valid Georgia driver's license and must be a US citizen.
- Experience in communicating with diverse communities, and in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
- Extensive hours and weekends will be required at times.
- Pre-employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing.
Applicant must pass a series of tests and interviews before selection as an employee. Once selected, the individual must have their Georgia Peace Officer and Standards Training Council (POST) law enforcement certification in good.
This job requires a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the City of College Park Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.
A successful candidate will play an active role in the City of College Park’s existing operational success. The purpose of the position is to assist with managing and planning security operations within the area of assignment. The work impacts the internal effectiveness of the department and operations with other divisions. The work also impacts external issues by isolating problems and addressing them with innovative approaches to prevent reoccurrence. Errors can impede crime prevention that will contribute to increased criminal activity, ultimately endangering lives, property, and overall well-being in the community. Errors can also subject the city to claims of negligence retention, failure to supervise, failure to train, and negatively impact the confidence and support of officials.
