      Job Description

      The Assembly 1st/3rd Shift position involves gathering blueprints, routing sheets, setting specifications, and all related fixtures and tools necessary to assemble products. The assembler will move parts to the assembly area, fasten parts together with various fasteners, and use blueprints and routing sheets to assist in the assembly operation. The role also includes assembling parts into repair kits and switches, packaging, and moving products to the shipping department for further processing. Additionally, the assembler will inspect products prior to packaging and ensure containers meet specifications, establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, and tally the number of products packaged.

      Responsibilities

      • Gather blueprints, routing sheets, setting specifications, and all related fixtures and tools necessary for assembly.
      • Move parts to the assembly area from storage racks.
      • Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, or other fasteners.
      • Use blueprints, routing sheets, setting specifications, required hand tools and fixtures, and test benches to assist in assembly operations.
      • Assemble parts into repair kits and switches; package and move products to the shipping department.
      • Inspect products prior to packaging and return rejected products to production departments.
      • Observe packaging operations and inspect containers to verify conformance to specifications.
      • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
      • Tally the number of products packaged or record information such as the type of products packaged.
      • Operate a pallet jack to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
      • Pack parts properly to prevent damage during transportation to the next operation.

      Essential Skills

      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or nine to eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Ability to read, write and understand work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, engineering prints, and procedure manuals.
      • Ability to communicate effectively with shipping clerks, other assembly, and shop personnel.
      • Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
      • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
      • Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
      • Capable of consistently maintaining production rates and a high level of quality.
      • Ability to work with limited supervision and in a team environment.
      • Self-motivated with a basic understanding of ISO 9001.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Experience with mechanical assembly, hand tools, production, power tools, and order picking.

      Work Environment

      Open production environment with very clean conditions and great lighting throughout the building. Some stations may be louder than others due to machinery in the area.

      Job Type & Location

      This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Mankato, Minnesota.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
