      Department Overview:

      The Assembly Sergeant at Arms office is a non-partisan office that aids the operation of the Assembly.

      Schedule:

      Schedule availability is an important part of our hiring process since we hire based on the needs of the Assembly. We hire primarily for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mid-day and afternoons (other shifts may be available for people who have some availability on one or more of these days/times.) We ask that applicants make themselves available to work 12-20 hours a week. We try to adhere to shifts of 3 hours or more. In addition, occasional evening hours are needed when the Assembly is in Session. Occasional weekend hours are also available.

      Salary/Wage Range:

      Hourly $15.00 to $15.50

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      Duties include:

      • Errand deliveries
      • Copying
      • Scanning
      • Carrying heavy and/or bulky items
      • Staff support for legislative committees and floor session
      • Providing security services
      • Setting up and taking down equipment
      • Arranging rooms and moving furniture
      • Answering the telephone and directing people to their Legislators
      • Labeling brochures/documents
      • Counting and bundling newsletters and mailings

      Qualifications:

      Looking for people with good communication skills who are comfortable working independently and in groups. Our office is non-partisan and requires professionalism. Prior experience in a job that requires excellent customer service skills is desired. Professional attire is required.

      Physical Demands

      Some lifting of packages and boxes and transporting various items in and around the Wisconsin State Capitol.
