      Position Highlights The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an Assistant Dean for Research to take a leadership role in growing our mission and vision. The successful candidate will be a creative, organized, and enthusiastic individual with the ability to connect and build relationships with faculty and administrators across campus as well as to build and implement meaningful opportunities for collaborative research and student opportunities. Our College’s current research priorities include Human-Animal Interaction, Veterinary Medical Education, One Health, and Data Science. The Assistant Dean will work across campus to build and maintain meaningful collaborations and networks. They will represent the College in meetings and through presentations to internal and external stakeholders. They will formalize programming for student research opportunities inside and outside the DVM curriculum and introduce students across campus to the College research portfolio. Working closely with the Associate Dean for Research and Research Administrator, they will manage the research operations of the college, including, but not limited to, writing overviews for funding and programs, approving protocols and regulatory submissions, and developing and implementing protocols for University- and College-wide initiatives.       Duties & Responsibilities

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Network and meet with key internal and external stakeholders to represent the College and grow its reach and capabilities.
      • Develop and formalize research opportunities for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students, including networking to curate opportunities, meeting with students to match interests, tracking feedback and outcomes, evolving and improving programming over time.
      • Give presentations to a variety of audiences on the current and future state of our College’s research programming and opportunities.
      • Create innovative and effective systems to track current operations and identify areas for growth and process improvement.
      • Participate in writing proposals, reports, and protocols as well as developing materials for operations and outreach.
      • Provide mentorship and personnel management to enhance productivity and foster an inclusive environment.
      • Keep apprised of and communicate knowledge in the field through training and professional development inside and outside the college.
      • Additional duties as needed.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      • Ability to lead teams, projects, and programs.
      • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
      • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
      • Minimum of 9 years of related work experience, including 5 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
      • Experience leading a team, project, program, or function.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate).
      • Experience with research or grant writing.
      • Experience working in higher education.
