      Job Summary

      Margaret’s House provides a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for social and academic growth for the children in our care. Our staff supervises the daily activities of the children in the classroom and develop a program that meets their needs and promotes age-appropriate development.

      Job Responsibilities

      Work closely with the Center Director to provide leadership, management, and support for all operations of Margaret’s House, the on-campus child care center at RIT serving Infant-Pre-School children. Work with staff to ensure a safe, educational, and fun environment for all enrolled children in accordance with all New York State OCFS licensing regulations.

      • Oversee all center operations in the absence of the Program Director in accordance with NYS OCFS licensing regulation
      • Work with Administrative team to develop and execute a weekly work schedule, including substitutes and student workers. Support daily opening or closing of center as assigned
      • Work with Administrative team for the recruitment, hiring, processing, training and scheduling of RIT student workers
      • Assist the Director in hiring, training, supervising, daily scheduling and evaluation of staff, including participation in planning and conducting staff meetings, classroom observations and training sessions
      • Oversee management of student enrollment and placement, including management of the waiting list and priority acceptance
      • Support classroom staff in the development and execution of the Creative Curriculum and the planning and organizing of annual family events and parent education opportunities
      • Share responsibility for the financial management of the center, including but not limited to payroll, purchasing, and fee collection.
      • Participate in the development of center lunch & snack menu in accordance with CACFP guidelines
      • Support Director in responding to potential family inquiries, scheduling and conducting tours
      • Assist the Director in implementing the center’s Student Affairs Assessment Plan and/or the Quality Stars Accreditation process
      • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
        • Conduct monthly classroom environment checks
        • Coordinate grants and special projects for the Center, as assigned
        • Participate in ongoing professional development

      Required Qualifications

      1 year of early childhood or elementary classroom experience. AS and CDA credential

      Department/College Description

      Margaret's House is RIT's child care center. It is centrally located on the campus and has been serving the community since 1972. The center provides full day care and education for children ages 8 weeks until Kindergarten.

      The dedicated staff at Margaret's House work to provide meaningful early childhood learning experiences and consider parents, their children's first and most consistent teachers, as partners in this endeavor. The program focuses on the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child, with consideration given to individual abilities and learning styles.

      Margaret's House is part of the Division of Student Affairs and works closely with the University community to integrate the early childhood experience with a vibrant college community.
