      The Springfield-Greene County Parks Department is hiring our next Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation. The assignment will be over the recreation division of the Parks Department. This role will oversee recreation programs and facilities, such as family centers, aquatics, Cooper Tennis Complex, special events, athletic complexes, skate park, school-age programs, and a variety of other activities.

      • Cast a vision for the recreation division of the Parks Department.
      • Strategic planning for a variety of facilities and activities hosted by the Parks department
      • Advance the Parks Department through fiscally responsible and future-ready planning.

      • Ability to cultivate strong and lasting partnerships with internal and external community partners.
      • Prior administrative supervisory experience with a Parks and Recreation team.
      • Strong analytical and strategic mindset related to planning and implementing programs and facilities.

      Experience, Education, and Training

      • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Parks, Recreation, Business, Public Administration, Marketing, Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, Zoology, Conservation Management (depending on assignment) or related field;
      AND
      • At least four years of responsible work experience at an administrative supervisory level in the parks and recreation field.
      PREFERRED
      • Master's Degree and/or continued/specialized education in the Parks & Recreation field.

      Licensing/Certification
      • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or other related licenses/certifications as deemed necessary.
