      The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS) seeks an Assistant Director of Prospect Management and Data Analytics to join our team in achieving our development and alumni relations program goals. The position is a member of the School’s External Affairs team and is essential in our effort to secure philanthropic support that helps drive the Krieger School’s mission of education, research, and discovery.


      The Assistant Director of Prospect Management and Data Analytics will be responsible for assisting with the Krieger team’s data integrity and administration, portfolio and pipeline management, as well as prospect identification efforts of the School. He/She/They will drive analytics and reporting to support data-driven decision making for the team.


      The Assistant Director also leads improvements in data-related policies and procedures for the team, leveraging existing tools while identifying new tools and approaches to data management, reporting, and process management. The position requires a strategic mindset while building relationships with numerous internal and external partners. Additionally, the team’s fast-paced work environment requires flexibility, strong analytical and process development skills, project management experience, while presenting interpersonal and business intelligence acumen.


      The position reports to the Senior Director of Development and works closely with the Krieger School’s Associate Dean of External Affairs, major gift officers, and administrative staff along with Central development and alumni relations colleagues.



      Data Analytics and Reporting

      • Serve as the Krieger office expert and point-of-contact for data analytics and reporting in Johns Hopkins Advancement System (JHAS), a Salesforce-based platform, as well as Tableau.
      • Develop and execute development reports, dashboards, and data sources to facilitate and shape successful strategy, next steps, and outcomes across the Krieger team, including prospect management, major and annual giving, donor relations, and alumni engagement.
      • Perform data analysis in reporting key fundraising and performance metrics to Krieger and DAR leadership. This requires attention to detail with the ability to prepare, process, and analyze data from multiple sources. The ability to effectively prepare and communicate key analysis highlights to leadership is essential.
      • Data report types include but are not limited to:
        • Campaign management reports,
        • Development officer activity reports,
        • Gift and pledge reports,
        • Proposals and solicitations reports,
        • Risk assessment and development research reports,
        • Krieger Boards & Councils giving reports,
        • Pipeline, territory, and department reports.
      • Provide training sessions and technical assistance for team members in the use of new and existing reporting tools to build data literacy and encourage data-driven intelligence.


      Data Governance

      • Oversee data quality and integrity for the Krieger School development and alumni relations team to ensure accuracy to enhance prospect and pipeline management, including but not limited to:
        • Management of leads through assignments, portfolios, and prospect groups,
        • Proposals and solicitations for constituents,
        • Data linking,
        • Boards & Councils membership
      • Work with Krieger School colleagues to build data governance standards that are aligned with the greater Development and Alumni Relations structure.
      • Assess current data and DAR team workflow processes to identify opportunities for improvements, and design solutions. Oversee implementation and training using existing training resources.
      • Serve as the primary Krieger liaison between the Office of Advancement Services and the Office of Development Research.


      Prospect and Pipeline Management

      • Assist in the development and entry of a comprehensive fiscal year work plan for the office, which includes solicitation, visit, and committed proposals for all fundraising staff.
      • Work closely with Krieger School development leadership on alumni giving participation goal setting, tracking, and reporting.
      • Advise and assist gift officers and administrative coordinators on data integrity and portfolio maintenance, including supporting Associate Dean with proposal entry and gift linking.
      • Identify, manage, and organize strategic opportunities to engage with development partners on research requests, projects of prospect identification projects and pipeline and portfolio analysis, among other similar services.
      • Data mine and disseminate new prospects to major gift officers identified through various research methods.
      • Prepare Advisory Board annual solicitations in coordination with Krieger leadership, gift officers and other partners.
      • Prepare and send bi-annual pledge reminders as appropriate for all open pledges of $10,000 or more in coordination with Central partners.
      • Attend and participate in relevant fundraising team meetings to assist with data tracking, strategy, and team coordination.
      • Serve as a Krieger representative on the Pipeline Liaison Group and other relevant content-based groups and committees.



      Annual Giving Program

      • In close partnership with the Office of Annual Giving, coordinate and help edit annual mailings, emails and phone appeals to alumni and friends of the Krieger School.
      • Manage the Krieger School’s role in annual Giving Days which includes the creation of prospect reports, tracking, and outreach plans.
      • Be the point-of-contact between the Krieger School and the Office of Annual Giving to support campaigns and assist in troubleshooting opportunities as they arise


      Gift Agreements

      • Lead major gift agreement drafting and execution for the Krieger Team which includes researching existing agreements, connecting with appropriate partners on content, and tracking drafted agreements. Maintain database of all signed gift agreements.
      • Project manage and shepherd gift agreement drafts through the multi-stage approval and signature process including leading communication between internal and external partners.




      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree.
      • Three years of related experience.
      • Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


      Preferred Qualifications
      • Proven track record working with non-profit CRMs, including building data models, reports and extracting data from relationship databases. Experience with Salesforce is preferred.
      • Professional experience in data management systems, data analytics, and data visualization methodologies and techniques. Experience with Tableau is preferred.
      • Find enjoyment in interpreting data and complex sets of information. Ability to conduct prospect searches, connect data to philanthropic goals, and is metric-driven.
      • At least 3 years of administrative/office experience preferably in development and/or high education.
      • Must be proficient in using various software applications with intermediate level skills in Microsoft Excel, such as the ability to perform VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and create macros.
      • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills required, including the ability to translate complex information into concise and easily understandable instructions, emails, reports and other formats.
      • Must possess strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to take part in more than one project simultaneously.
      • Must adapt to and be able to work in a complex, multi-divisional organization and a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working through competing priorities.
      • Candidate must be proactive and effective both when working independently and as part of a team.
      • Must possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
      • Must maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
      • Able to provide high customer service to internal and external partners.
