Job Description

- Answer and screen phone calls, refer callers to appropriate person, answer routine questions.
- Meet and greet visitors or staff arriving for appointments.
- Assist with completing forms and documenting information.
- Maintain office supplies; submit purchase orders to replenish as needed.
- Receive mail and packages, and may be responsible for shipping/mailing packages and letters.
- Type routine correspondence as appropriate.
- Copy, fax and file information related to the department activities.
- Filing all documents pertaining to employees, verification of information and other related office activities.
- May be responsible for time keeping, tracking vacation, sick days, etc. of department staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- No prior office experience required.
- One (1) year office experience preferred (preferably in a comparable department to the one assigned).
- Ability to type at least 35 words per minute.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer and screen viewing throughout the working day.
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Overview
The HR Assistant is responsible for the main reception area of the Human Resource Department. The HR Assistant will meet and greet all staff members, applicants, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner while directing their inquiries to the appropriate area. The Assistant is also responsible for administrative support as needed.
