Job summary
The Mental Health Act covers the reception, care and treatment of certain persons with mental disorder. It provides the legislation by which people diagnosed with mental disorder can be detained in hospital or police custody for their disorder to be assessed or treated or be subject to supervised community treatment. Assistant Mental Health Act Administrators have a lead role in maintaining processes and systems to support compliance with the Mental Health Act and the Code of Practice.
Main duties of the job
Working within a team, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the University Health Board is fully compliance with all the statutory and regulatory requirements enforced by the Mental Health Act. This will be achieved by ensuring that all Mental Health Act documentation is correct and up to date, maintaining an accurate filing system and database of patient information.
The post holder will have the confidence to liaise with an extensive range of healthcare professionals, local authorities, solicitors, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales staff, Mental Health Review Tribunal staff, Ministry of Justice staff and other outside agencies including the Courts, voluntary sector and members of the public.
You will also be responsible for is sorting and processing our archived files along with any tasks relating to processing our 117 register in cooperation with the Local Authority.
This post is fixed term / secondment for 10 months due to the needs of the service.
