- Hold the Postgraduate Professional Certificate with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision.
- Successful, full-time experience as a teacher or supervisor at the middle or secondary level.
- Have demonstrated the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, parents, and the community.
- Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to utilize technology for instruction, data and analysis, and administrative purposes.
- Assists the principal in the development, implementation, improvement, and evaluation of the instructional program ensuring conformance to state standards, the school divisions’ goals, and policies.
- Works collaboratively with all staff to strengthen the instructional program.
- Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school, and student attendance concerns.
- Provides supervision of students in educational settings and at athletic events.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety of students and staff.
- Establishes effective communication and maintains positive relationships with division administrative offices, students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Works with the principal in compiling the annual budget.
- Assists in the preparation of master schedules, staff assignments, student scheduling, accumulative records, and attendance reports.
- Assists in the communication, implementation, and observance of all school division policies and regulations by staff and students.
- Assists the principal in teacher evaluations; and providing feedback for all staff.
- Responsible for special duty assignments as directed by the principal.
- Coordinates the assignments and supervision of substitutes, student teachers, paraprofessionals, and volunteers.
- Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attends school-sponsored activities, and functions.
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.
- Assists in the recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating of the building staff.
- Serves as a primary administrator in the absence or disability of the principal.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Hold a valid Virginia driver's license.
TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (OPEN UNTIL FILLED)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To assist the school principal in the leadership, direction, and supervision of the total school program.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month contract (250 days). Compensation is based on the administrative salary scale.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent following school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluations of administrative personnel.
