Our school district is comprised of ten schools in eleven buildings across 6 boroughs in Delaware County, with an enrollment of more than 5,000 students. Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties: Assist with the support, instruction, and evaluation of instructional staff to ensure maximum educational benefits for students Assist with the development and implementation of a functioning education mission consistent with the vision of the William Penn School District Assist with the development of a comprehensive curriculum aligned with PDE SAS Assist with the development of an atmosphere of respect and rapport in the school setting Assist with the administration of common assessments and PSSA Exams, analyzing data, and implementing strategies for improvement in student achievement Assist in the use of PVAAS data to improve instruction Communicate openly and effectively with students, community, staff, and administration Assist with supervision and in providing for the general welfare of students during the school day, on school trips, and during school activities Apply appropriate policies regarding pupil discipline, attendance, and individual progress consistent with the Code of Conduct and the vision of the William Penn School District Assist with the selection of duties for effective staff utilization Encourage the professional growth of teachers by advanced training, experimentation, and evaluation Assist with the administration of district policies in the operation of the school Assist with the administration of the school budget Assist in maintaining school records and filing necessary reports Assist in school compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of the various governmental agencies Assist with planning and organizing the school day and year to provide for efficient operation of the school Assist with the maintenance of safe, clean, attractive, and well-kept buildings and grounds Work cooperatively with peers in sharing ideas, techniques, and procedures Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques Adhere to all district health and safety policies Other duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrative staff Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrate WPSD Core Values in interactions in the school, district and community Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to connect and communicate with staff, parents and the school community Ability to build and lead strong and collaborative teams Self-reflective and committed to continuous professional growth Ability to motivate staff, students and families around school-vision Understanding of policies and laws affecting special populations, ELL students and students receiving special education services Strategic problem solving Persistence in the face of obstacles Ability to use challenges to innovate and drive change Commitment to the work of school leadership Well-organized Ability to balance competing priorities Creative and innovative thinking skills Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others. Required Qualifications: Five years of full-time, paid, professional educational experience Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Administrative Certificate for Secondary School Principal Preferred Qualifications: Post-baccalaureate degree Condition of Employment: Current clearances as required by PA Department of Education: Copy of Act 33(PA Child Abuse History) Copy of Act 34(PA Criminal Background Check) Copy of Act 114 (FBI Fingerprinting Background Check) Copies of Act 168 (Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release) forms from prior employers.
