      Job Summary

      The Department of Art and Design invites applications for Assistant Professor of Practice in Graphic Design beginning August 2024. This position will teach all levels of undergraduate Graphic Design, participate in departmental meetings and engage with the greater academic and professional communities.

      Qualifications

      A Masters of Fine Art in Graphic Design or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience in a college or university setting as well as industry experience in graphic design and management is required. The department values sharing practical experience with our students in such areas as graphic design as a problem-solving medium of communication and social engagement, the history and contemporary practice of graphic design, as well as the practical and theoretical implications of new and emerging technologies. This position will teach in the areas of, but not limited to, traditional graphic design, typography, production techniques, multimedia and related technologies, and proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Position is contingent upon available funding and satisfactory background check.

      The Department

      The Department of Art and Design is a vibrant department of active art professionals and scholars and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Housed in the well-equipped Visual Arts Building, students benefit from studying with artistically active faculty who exhibit regionally, nationally, and internationally. The department is staffed by seven tenured, two tenure-track faculty, four senior lecturers, one lecturer, and thirteen limited-term lecturers. The Department of Art and Design enrolls more than 300 majors in curricula leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Art; Bachelor of Arts in Art Education; Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with concentrations in, Ceramics, Drawing, Imaging and Photography, Painting, Printmaking, Metalsmithing, Sculpture; Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design; Bachelor of Fine Arts in Web Design with elective studies in Information Technology; or Bachelor of Science in Interior Design.
