      Description

      Our Financial Lines Underwriting team is looking for an Assistant Underwriter to provide additional support to our busy desks and share responsibility for our growth. The ideal candidate will come into the position with relevant foundational knowledge so that they can take increasing amounts of responsibility over a short period of time. This role will also assist in developing and executing on strategic initiatives that will help the Financial Lines team grow efficiently and profitably.

      Each Financial Lines underwriter at Convex US handles all segments of our business: Commercial and Financial Institutions, Public and Private Company, the full suite of coverage offerings (D&O, FI E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Fidelity), retail and wholesale, across the entire country.

      Key Responsibilities
      • Prepare and evaluate new and renewal business opportunities. Present target accounts at risk review discussions and participate in discussion of other underwriter's accounts (virtually).
      • Collaborate closely with the other underwriters, product development, and legal/compliance to confirm the accuracy of policy issuance and manuscript wordings.
      • Assist with account management, portfolio management and achievement of service goals.
      • Proactively problem-solve to balance and manage client/broker expectations with internal service standards.
      • Attend/listen to client presentations at underwriting meetings by conference call and in-person at a group meeting.
      • Develop rapport with assigned brokers including in-person marketing visits. Travel required, nation-wide but typically to New York City, Chicago, and other major metros.


      Skills Knowledge and Expertise
      • Bachelors' degree required.
      • Minimum 2 years Financial Lines underwriter experience.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of policy forms, coverages, and key underwriting principals.
      • History of exemplary performance within a professional work environment.
      • Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
      • Well focused with good attention to detail and follow-through.
      • Intrinsic motivation to get work done.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to work flexibly particularly during peak underwriting periods.
      • Determined and prepared to advance a successful career in underwriting.
