      For our site in Krems, we are currently looking for a:

      Assoc. Dir., Bio Technology Solutions (m/f/d)

      This role is responsibly supporting Technology development, process development, and process improvement of the Krems vaccine portfolio.

      Activities are carried out in local projects with high complexity covering development phase as well as transfer from R&D to Manufacturing, Manufacturing to Manufacturing, licensing, and implementation.

      Works together with BTS, ATS, Quality departments and Manufacturing locally and at different sites, R&D species teams, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Global Supply Chain and Network strategy to achieve company’s business goals.

      Main tasks

      Supports/leads Bioprocess Technology Solutions (BTS) activities at the Krems site in close collaboration and alignment with the Site BTS Support Lead:

      • Organize, oversee and assume accountability for site activities

      • Create synergies within the local site group and supports reconciliation with the global BTS organization

      • Communicates with other functional groups (Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.) to maintain focus and direction of efforts - in close alignment with the BTS Lead

      • Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D) in devising new processes, or refining existing ones, to optimize the manufacturing process.

      • Development of improved processes (upstream, downstream, FPC, MMI’s) and resolving manufacturing and supply issues of our vaccine portfolio according to the needs of Manufacturing

      • Oversee scaling up the production process, making cost effective changes to raw materials or components and process parameters to ensure quality is maintained during large-scale production.

      • Advise on equipment modification to enable process changes for new product development.

      • Evaluate new technologies with the team to enhance efficiencies and reduce cost to manufacture products.

      • Problem solving activities using the lean management tools to ensure the direction and control of continuous improvement, waste reduction and yield improvement.

      • Manage own competing timelines and prioritize critical tasks.

      • Travel as required to support BTS team and projects

      • Provide scientific expertise and support for Product Transfers

      • Facilitate product transfers from R&D and site to site.

      • Transfer (implement) technologies to agreed schedules, milestones and objectives and cost.

      • Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements

      • Assure area activities comply with our policies, EHS, governmental regulations, etc. and that all expectations are clearly defined and communicated.

      • Follow external developments / trends in vaccine process development

      • Deliver scientific support on strategic choices for new investments and Acquisitions.

      • Expert within company’s global AH organisation for bacterial fermentation and downstream processing including plant engineering

      Qualification and Experience

      • Academic training in a relevant field (e.g. Cell Biology, Virology, Bacteriology, Process Management, Veterinary Medicine).

      • Multiple years of experience as (senior) project leader in the development of biotechnological products.

      • Proven knowledge of GMP and GLP guidelines and can act accordingly.

      • Knowledge and application of Lean / Six Sigma methodologies at a minimum of Green Belt level.
