      Job Summary

      Provide engineering analysis and technical support associated with the reliability and operations of CenterPoint Energy’s electric distribution system. Build actionable dashboards to improve reliability or operational efficiencies using large data sets. Utilize programming skills to support system automated processes. Manage critical system such as RCCS for distribution capacitor banks controls and PELCAR for load calculations.

      Essential Functions

      • Develop and support software including coding applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements to fulfill business requirements.
      • Gather and analyze large amounts of data, perform engineering studies, prepare written reports, and give oral presentations related to pertinent issues.
      • Design, build, and document dashboards using various database tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, Oracle, SQL, and Access, with relevant metrics that drive efficiencies.
      • Utilize engineering tools to identify potential reliability issues, equipment failures, or operational concerns and form recommendations for solutions.
      • Calculate reliability metrics such as SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI, IEEE 2.5 Beta, etc.
      • Create QA/QC processes to improve data quality and consistency.
      • Support the Remote-Controlled Capacitor System (RCCS) to ensure optimal system functionality.
      • Perform engineering analysis through Program for Engineering Load Calculations and Reporting (PELCAR). Able to read, understand and adjust coding in PELCAR.
      • Coordinates with other groups such as Security, Control Systems, Telecom, and others to ensure overall success of applications and distribution assets.
      • Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams.

      Education:
      • EE: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer or a related discipline from an accredited university.

      Experience for Associate EE Position:
      • EE: Electric utility or power engineering internship/co-op experience is preferred or overall applicable programming experience.
