What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
- Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations
- Defend assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing
- Document files clearly and concisely for various stakeholders
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 2-6+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense or personal injury
- Juris Doctor degree required
- Admission to the Texas Bar required
- Licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas with ongoing CLE requirements
- Ability to travel as necessary for trials, hearings, and conferences
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Civil litigation experience
- Experience in insurance defense-related litigation
- Strong professional communication skills in person, via phone, and in writing
