      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Associate Divisional Director with exceptional leadership skills, to lead and develop Theatres, Anaesthetics & Critical Care within the Division of Surgery.

      We are looking for a dedicated and visionary individual to take up this role who will lead on both the Directorate and operational performance for the Division.

      The post holder will be a key member of the Divisional Management Team, and will work closely with the Director , Associate Medical Director and Divisional Nurse Director in order to develop the strategic direction of surgical services. Demonstrable networking and negotiating skills and the ability to quickly build and maintain effective productive relationships is key to this role.

      Candidates must be a team player with significant experience of working in an acute setting, proven management skills, and experience in leading complex services and teams. The post holder will be responsible for leading, challenging, changing and driving forward continuous quality improvement.

      Main duties of the job

      The Associate Divisional Director will support the Divisional Director in delivering their divisional objectives and supporting the services within their Division. A key focus will be achievement against the Operational standards and targets. alongside the delivery of activity agreements with Commissioners. It will also include achievement against a range of internally developed objectives and priorities.

      Responsibility for the day to day operational and performance management of Theatres, Anaesthetics & Critical Care and will provide effective leadership to ensure systems of financial and activity management are in place to successfully achieve the Divisional targets.

      To lead on performance for the Division

      The post holder will work with the Divisional Director of Operations, Associate Medical Director and Divisional Nurse Nurse Director to achieve strategic objectives across the Division.

      Deputise for the Divisional Director of Operations as and when required.

      Network at a strategic level to keep abreast of best practice and developments

      To ensure delivery against the key target areas for theatres to achieve an upper quartile position (model hospital). Not exhaustive but including:

      o Clinical Touch Time Utilisation (CTTU 85%)

      o Actual Cases per List (ACPLs)

      o Late Starts In Theatre

      To maintain a balanced financial budget, pursuing actions to reduce spend without compromising patient care.

      To oversee and monitor operational performance for the Division, working closely with the Divisional Director of Operations and Directorate teams.

      The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

      If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of £26.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

      In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
