- Perform routine to complex setup, installation, and configuration of the operating system (including hardware and software), new software releases, and upgrades
- Create and manage user directories and files on the server platforms
- Monitors, tunes, diagnoses, and resolves routine to complex operating system, application, and database problems
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair routine to complex problems with hardware, operating systems, security, and data protection
- Perform backup and recovery operations and assists with capacity planning for a specific data system
- Develop, test, and implement routine to complex scripts to automate common functions or system operations
- Consult with users to identify existing system problems then evaluates and recommends various software and hardware solutions to meet user needs
- Develop, maintain, and publish routine to complex custom reports
- Consults with users to identify new business requirements then evaluates and recommends software and/or hardware solutions to meet user needs
- Developing and upgrading of client database networks
- Coordinating maintenance and upgrades of agency's computer networks
- Coordinating with supervisor to develop short and long-range plans for upgrading and improving the agency's computer networks
- Utilizing knowledge of current networking and computer trends and technology to make recommendations to the organization
- Resolving unusual or critical network system problems and complaints
- Performing and documenting system back-up and recovery or directing others to do so
- Working with end users to resolve problems
- Any one position may not include all of the duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed above.
Requires skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives of the unit or project
- Requires skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communications to elicit and/or present explanatory or interpretive information
- Requires a knowledge of database function, network topology, operating systems and n-tier applications
- Requires a knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation sufficient to be able to compose and edit correspondence, reports, or memoranda
An ability to communicate effectively with various teams/people
Have an interest in, and be open to new technology, and innovation
Over two (2) years of professional working experience in maintaining, implementing, and modifying information technology systems, or similar work processing operations, including system hardware and software
Hands-on knowledge configuring and maintaining a layer 2 and 3 switch environment
VMware and Hyper-V experience
Experience with Microsoft Active directory and its integrated components (DHCP, DNS, Group Policy)
Network monitoring and CMDB experience
Linux experience
Experience with PowerShell and other scripting technologies
Next-generation firewall experience
Common Backup solutions
Cybersecurity concepts and best practices
- Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a related field.
- Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of professional Information Technology experience maintaining, implementing, and modifying information technology systems or work processing operations including system hardware and software.
- Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
- Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
