      Job Description Summary:

      The Associate Manager, University Programs is a member of the regional AMER Global Partnerships and Client Solutions team primarily responsible for individualized communication with university professors, research, analytical support, and a variety of projects relating to the university sector in the region.

      Significant focus of this individual will be in, strategic selection and targeting of new universities for outreach and encouragement to Affiliate - aligned to the objectives of GPCS and the territorial Business Development teams. It requires regular and systematic peer liaison with both BD teams and Societies across the AMER region. Independent decision making is required to review appropriate universities and courses and prioritise those which align with the Business Development objectives for the region. This role advises and guides territorial Business Development teams and local Societies as the subject expert on appropriate targeting of universities for outreach. The rolemanages client activity and serving clients with respect to university programs, university staff and students.

      With responsibility for timely communication with professors of finance in the region, this role requires high level communication skills including credible feedback on the details of the mapping of their university finance courses to the CFA Program. This also involves tactful declining of applications to universities, providing credible reasoning and interpretation of the Affiliation approval criteria.

      Primary responsibilities will be the execution and growth of the University Affiliation Program in the region, professor and student outreach with a principle goal of increasing the number of students registering, during or after their degrees, for CFA Institute programs and products. The Associate Manager is responsible for successful relationships with affiliated universities in AMER, focused on globally established programs – including all aspects of the University Affiliation Program and student scholarships. They will be the primary point of contact for university faculty and students with decision-making authority on affiliation and student scholarship matters. As more than 50% of CFA Program Level 1 candidates have attended Affiliated universities in AMER the impact on regional revenue of well-managed relationships with affiliated universities is self-evident.

      The position may from time-to-time support global coverage of accounts not primarily based in AMER by supporting and backing up primary account managers, as required. They will be an active participant in the Global UP team with some shared responsibility for global UP processes and projects including the Research Challenge competition. The Associate Manager, University Programs works closely with the AMER GPCS Business Development teams as well as other CFA Institute teams to facilitate university relations in the region. This position will participate in new initiatives as the role of University Programs within the organisation develops. Future initiatives are likely to include the promotion of new educational products and credentials to universities, broader outreach to students, student clubs and developing opportunities in the university sector for Professional Learning and Research.

      Job Description:

      The requirements of this role include:

      • Work to leverage the University Affiliation Program for the benefit of developing deeper relationships with key academic partners and wider outreach to students in the AMER region:

        • Review and makes decisions on Affiliation applications, ensuring the AMER UAP network meets global standards and maximises positive impact for CFA Institute.

        • Communicate directly and individually with universities and Society leaders on a wide range of topics. This requires levels of tactful communication and service to appropriately represent CFA Institute to key external clients of significant seniority and the highest educational credentials (typically PhD).

        • Serve as the primary point of contact both for UAP participating universities as well as any students, professors, or other members of the AMER academic community contacting CFA Institute

        • Document and monitor the progress of prospective UAP universities through the application process to full affiliation. Records, maintains and reports accurately all AMER University Program activities and relationships in Salesforce.

        • Manage annual administrative processes relating to the UAP network in AMER including student scholarships and the UAP Annual Review process.

        • Conduct research on prospective UAP participants, including speaking to local CFA Societies. Maintains all relevant records and collateral related to the AMER UAP participants

        • Send information and guides universities and societies through the UAP application process, reviews UAP applications, and communicates final status.

      • Support for other university programs and CFA Institute products

        • Maintain knowledge of CFA Institute programs and offerings, with a specific understanding of Relationship Management programs, such as Research Challenge, Scholarships, and other certificates programs.

        • Initiate and maintain contact with student finance clubs in the region to increase positive impact for CFA Institute with AMER students.

        • May be required to manage the work of one or more University Program interns and develop internship projects relating to the work of University Programs.

      • Analytical and Local Support

        • Conducts research projects on various topics of interest for universities.

        • Has primary responsibility for Salesforce data and reporting for University Programs in the AMER region.

        • Analyses internal data to improve internal efficiencies and support current and future projects.

        • Serves as a first level response to incoming client enquiries, supports global coverage of accounts not primarily based in AMER, and backs up primary account managers, as required.

        • Liaises with the Business Development team and society staff in the AMER region on institutional engagement programs and offerings, including occasional marketing and training support.

      The skills and experience required for this role inlcudeL

      • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

      • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a client-facing role such as client services, sales, relationship management or similar responsibilities

      • Good knowledge of CFA Institute programs, offerings, stakeholders and partnerships is desirable.

      • Strong client stakeholder focus, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

      • Ability to use critical thinking to determine best course of resolution for a problem; role requires cross-functional awareness and ability to classify/triage customer issues and concerns

      • Fluency in English required, knowledge of additional languages would be useful.

      • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and listening, and presentation with professional and diplomatic demeanor, appropriate for individual direct liaison with senior practitioner Society Leaders and university academic experts

      • Very high level of organizational and time management skills.

      • Able to show initiative and problem-solving skills working within a multicultural organization or across different time zones, cultures, nationalities, languages.

      • Some fluency and experience in project management, with skills necessary to interpret what is needed for the success of a project and to create appropriate schedules for timely delivery.

      • Working knowledge of Higher Education in the AMER region is desirable.

      • Proficient using standard office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.

      • Aptitude with and willingness to learn client-based administrative systems and platforms.

      • Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities, busy travel schedules of teammates, and changing expectations.

      • Willingness to ask questions rather than just follow directions is required.

      • Must demonstrate good judgment and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with a variety of different stakeholders.

      Travel requirements:

      • Some occasional regional or global travel required for internal events, conferences, or client & society activities. 10-15% of the time.

      CFA Institute salary ranges will vary by geographical location. In compliance with the New York City salary disclosure law, the anticipated base salary for this role in New York City will range between $100,000 and $125,000. Salaries are determined based on candidate relevant experience and skills, as well as internal equity.
