Strong leadership skills including technical direction, coaching, performance management, recruitment and development of staff and the creation of a positive and productive work environment.
Minimize financial and reputational risk through appropriate adjudication and management of new and ongoing claims.
Successfully meet claims SLAs while reviewing processes to generate efficiencies and improve the customer experience.
Actively manage the fraud risk, audit programs and approval limits for the team.
Create and maintain strong internal (Legal, Compliance, Marketing) and external (Clients, Advisors, Reinsurers) working relationships.
Participate in overall Claims department management, including reporting requirements, strategy development and transformation initiatives focused on our “North Star” of being the best claims team in the industry.
Participate in overall Canadian Operations and Individual Insurance initiatives related to employee engagement and culture as a high performing team.
Extensive claims experience with substantial disability insurance experience (5 years +)
Superior knowledge of the claims industry including the regulatory and legal environment
Excellent leadership skills
Superior process management and organization skills
Excellent interpersonal, motivational, influencing, negotiation and relationship-building skills
Strong customer service orientation
Exceptional written and oral communications skills

The Associate Manager of Living Benefits Claims is accountable for the leadership, direction and operational effectiveness of the disability claim team – a team that is responsible for the review and investigation of all contestable/non-contestable claims, and the payment of Disability claims to policyholders. This role will also develop and implement strategies to improve customer service and administration efficiencies while providing the leadership necessary to foster a high-performing culture, strong engagement, employee retention and a high-quality claims management organization.

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Salary range is expected to be between
$65,775.00 CAD - $109,625.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
