What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct internal monitoring and auditing functions on policies and procedures
- Review medical records and billing system programs to ensure coding and billing accuracy
- Provide education and training to billing providers and staff based on audit results
- Manage compliance issues for assigned departments and serve as a resource for coding and billing questions
- Perform ad hoc audits and follow-up functions for areas of compliance concerns

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of experience in coding/auditing functions, or High School diploma plus 7 years of experience in professional coding/auditing functions
- Current coding certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional coding and billing guidelines

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- Surgical coding experience or previous Evaluation and Management (E&M) code audit experience
- Additional coding certifications such as Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)
