What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Audit medical records to identify missed charges, incorrect coding, and inconsistencies affecting billing
- Conduct Root Cause Analyses to report findings on common coding issues and missed billing opportunities
- Retrieve missing patient information and documentation necessary for billing
- Prepare reports and summaries of audit findings for presentation and educational purposes
- Provide coding support to cross-functional teams and assist with special projects
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 3 years of coding experience
- Must have and maintain an approved coding credential through AAPC or AHIMA
- Must obtain at least one additional certification (CANPC or CPMA) within 1 year of employment
- Extensive knowledge of medical billing software and electronic medical records
- Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft 365 and Excel (basic formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous coding experience within Anesthesia or General Surgery
- Knowledge of clinical documentation compliance and regulatory requirements
