- Design and implement control algorithms specific to automotive applications (e.g., engine control, transmission control, chassis control) using principles like PID control and state space control.
- Ensure control systems meet stringent performance and stability requirements for automotive safety and efficiency.
- Select and configure appropriate automotive control system hardware (sensors, actuators) considering factors like reliability and environmental conditions.
- Utilize control system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) to analyze and optimize control strategies for real-world automotive scenarios.
- Define and implement diagnostic requirements for fault detection, isolation, and reporting specific to automotive systems.
- Analyze customer needs and translate them into clear diagnostic requirements considering regulatory compliance (e.g., OBD-II).
- Define the scope of diagnostics, including fault detection for various automotive components (engine, transmission, brakes, etc.), isolation of root causes, and reporting functionalities.
- Collaborate with design and development engineers to understand system functionality, potential failure modes, and diagnostic access points within the vehicle.
- Design and develop diagnostic test plans and procedures for diverse automotive fault scenarios.
- Specify the use of automotive diagnostic services (e.g., UDS) for communication with vehicle Electronic Control Units (ECUs).Select and implement appropriate diagnostic tools and methodologies suited for automotive applications (e.g., fault tree analysis, boundary value analysis).
- Design and implement diagnostic software modules or scripts tailored for automotive diagnostics.
- Ensure integration of diagnostic functionalities with the overall vehicle electronic architecture.
- Create and execute comprehensive test cases to verify the effectiveness of control algorithms and diagnostic functionalities in automotive systems.
- Participate in vehicle system integration testing and ensure proper operation of both control and diagnostic systems under various driving conditions.
- Develop clear and concise documentation for automotive control system operation, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic tool usage.
- Strong understanding of control theory principles (feedback, stability analysis) applied to automotive systems.
- Proficiency in control system modeling and simulation tools with experience in automotive applications.
- Experience with designing and implementing control algorithms for automotive systems (e.g., engine control, powertrain control).
- Working knowledge of automotive control system hardware components (sensors, actuators) and their integration within vehicles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on automotive diagnostics.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams in the automotive industry.
- Experience with specific automotive control applications (e.g., engine control, transmission control, chassis control).
- Knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation techniques for automotive systems.
- Understanding of relevant automotive diagnostic standards and regulations (e.g., OBD-II, CAN bus).
- Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis tools used in automotive diagnostics.
