      Organizational Overview:

      The AVP, Audit Manager – Operations, will be part of the Operations Audit team within the Internal Audit department. The Operations Audit team is the 3rd line of defense and is responsible for executing all Operations related controls from both design and operating effectiveness perspectives. The position is based in India.

      Role Summary/Purpose:

      This position is a individual contributor role, primarily responsible for the execution of audit activities including independent control design evaluation and operating effectiveness of Synchrony’s Operation function (including Front Line Services, Backline Services, Collection, Recovery), Human Resources function, and Legal function, validation of corrective actions, and continuous monitoring.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Contribute to the direction and focus of the Operations Internal Audit Team through active engagement in audit planning, control testing, and continuous monitoring processes with high level of autonomy.

      • Draft audit plans, develop audit tests, and execute testing. Identify and assess the impact of control deficiencies.

      • Be responsible for preparing high quality audit deliverables including planning memoranda, risk control matrix and risk evaluation, audit programs, audit working papers, drafts of audit issues and audit reports.

      • Present audit results to various levels of Internal Audit leadership, as well as the business organization

      • Ensure audits and documentation conform with professional and departmental standards, budgets, and timelines.

      • Identify control gaps or control deficiencies and assess the impact to the business.

      • Maintain internal audit competency through ongoing professional development.

      • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

      Required Skills/Knowledge:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or an equivalent related field with 4+ years of relevant experience in audit, surveillance, risk testing, governance, or relevant banking industry experience covering Operations (Front Line Services, Backline Services, Collection, Recovery Activities), Human Resources, and Legal, or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of relevant experience.

      • Demonstrate verbal and written ability to articulate the business objectives, business risk, processes, and controls.

      • You currently hold, or are actively pursuing a CPA, CIA, or other relevant professional designation/association.

      • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

      Desired Skills/Knowledge:

      • Minimum 3 - 5 years combined internal audit, public accounting, regulatory (e.g., FRB, OCC, FDIC, etc.) or relevant banking industry experience.

      • Knowledge and experience of risk management for customer service, collection, recovery processes, and regulatory requirement in this space

      • Demonstrate verbal and written ability to articulate the business objectives, business risk, processes, and controls.

      • Ability to objectively identify problems and set expectations on solutions.

      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

      • Able to work independently on multiple assignments while effectively supporting teamwork and achievement of team objectives.

      • Understanding of business technologies and its impact to the control environment

      • Strong PC Skills – Microsoft Office suite

      • Familiarity with data mining and analytics (SAS, ACL, Python, Tableau) is a plus.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or an equivalent related field with 4+ years of relevant experience in audit, surveillance, risk testing, governance, or relevant banking industry experience covering Operations (Front Line Services, Backline Services, Collection, Recovery Activities), Human Resources, and Legal, or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of relevant experience.

      Work Timings:

      This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
